The child-Peek-a-Band only displays an arrow to the direction the child should walk. According to literature research young children are not capable of reading a map easily. Due to the new technology of Cicret, the map can be projected on the arm en will give a much clearer overview. In combination with a “smart voice” which helps the child in navigating, he or she should succeed in navigating back to his or her parent. A friendly voice will establish an emotional connection between the product and it's user. The child will get more confidence in finding back his parent. In the future it might also be possible to combine the Cicret technology with 3D technology. A 3D projection can point out landmarks which makes it easier to orientate.

Another future vision of the Peek-a-Band is the measurement of the stress level of the lost child. The Peek-a-band will detect this trough a heart-rate sensor or a transpiration-sensor and sends a signal to the parent. Further research needs to be executed to determine the most effective and accurate method.

FUTURE VISION

Peek-a-band goes green

The economy keeps on growing and the available resources are decreasing. If we continue this way we’ll exhaust our planet. That’s why circular economy is an important concept for the Peek-a-band; by reusing and recycling our products and materials the quantity of waste will decrease and there’s less need for producing new materials.

For example, the peek-a-band wristbands are made of textile. The textile wristbands are handed in separately from the remaining garbage in a special disposal unit. The separated textile can then be recycled. Often the textile fibers are still in great condition and they can be used as an element for new textile products (material reuse). The reuse or recycling of textile is extremely durable compared to producing new textile products, because making new fibers costs a lot of water and energy.

Since we lease the automatic dispensers to customers, repair the broken ones and keep them up to date, we ensure that they have the longest durability possible. This way there’s no need to produce a new machines (and use more materials) each time one is broken or outdated. Furthermore as owners of the dispensers, they are only leased to customers, we remain responsible for the disposal of the discarded machines allowing us to claim usable subcomponents and separate the rest into waste and other recyclables.

In our current design the display of the Peek-a-Band is relatively small. Due to the innovation of the  company Cicret, it will soon be possible to project a touch screen on your own arm. In collaboration with Cicret we will be able to redesign the Peek-a-band into a narrow (more comfortable) Peek-a-Band and project the map on the arm of the user.
